I recently read somewhere that one of the secrets to success is to “operate inside your strength zone, but outside your comfort zone.”
Sometimes I yearn for stillness and then when I get it I go a little bit crazy!
It is times like these, when it is important to remember that it is okay to feel uncomfortable. For it is through the discomfort that we are able to understand and appreciate comfort. In this dualistic world, in order for us to experience and appreciate what we consider to be the more favored side of the emotional coin, we must also experience the not so favored side.
In those times of discomfort, remember that in this world of impermanence, all things will pass. You will not stay angry, sad or frustrated forever. If you allow these things to run their course (and not become attached), they will subside.
In these last few days of December, perhaps it behooves us all to look for stillness, even if it means being a little uncomfortable. For it is in the stillness that we give perspective and integrity to our movement, to our sense of being.
“Movement is only as good as the sense of stillness that you can bring to it to put it into perspective.” Pico Iyer
